Special Lenten Suppers and Services ~ “The Stones Cry Out”
Remember how, on that first Palm Sunday, the people were following after Jesus and shouting “Hosanna!” The Pharisees were shocked. They wanted Jesus to hush his disciples, but Jesus responded, “If they keep quiet, the stones along the road will burst into cheers!”
To archeologists, stones and ancient artifacts do speak. They can even shout and cheer. This Lent, we will look at five such stones or historical objects. We will see what they have to say to us about Jesus, his last days, and the truth of the Christian faith.
On the Wednesdays of Lent (Feb. 29, March 7, 14, 21, 28), we will gather for supper at 6:15 PM, followed by worship at 7:00.
Can you help provide “artifacts” for our museum of biblical history? We are going to need old lamps, basins and jugs, games, and signs. The schedule is as follows:
February 29: “A Sign in the Temple” (various signs)
March 7: “Graffiti Confirms the Gospel (none needed)
March 14: “A Jug and a Basin” (jugs, basins, bowls)
March 21: “Oil Lamps” (lanterns, lamps)
March 28: “Games” (old games)
Please let Pastor Rosa know if you can provide an article for a specific evening. You can bring it that night and take it back home after worship. Bring your whole family for supper and worship. There will be a corresponding children’s activity or craft for each session.
